AM Awards 2023: Celebrating Team AM
Roll out the red carpet and dust off your finest frock, (and masquerade-theme mask) it’s time for AM Awards! AM Awards arrived in style for 2023, this year with a masquerade event-theme seeing guests arrive in their favoured masquerade-ball style masks. Hosted by Company Owner and Director Matthew Mackintosh, AM Awards is an annual inter-Company awards ceremony recognising and celebrating the diligent hard work, career development and efforts of AM Surveying & Block Management colleagues over the past 12 months.
For 2023 the annual awards event was held at prestigious Cave Hotel & Golf Resort in Kent, taking place 14th January 2023 celebrating the successes of team AM Surveying & Block Management during calendar year 2022.
Award winners are selected by Company Director and Owner Matthew Mackintosh, whom commented before the awards evening: "I have the honour of selecting our award winners, it's a small way I can show recognition for their hard work and a token of my appreciation. I select the award winners that stand out to me the most in each given category, however the staff-choice Inspirational Colleague award is awarded on an inter-team-nomination basis and not chosen by me."
AM Award Categories
6 exciting awards, presented on stage by members of our team, were primed for collection by their respective AM colleague winners, summarised below.
Leader of the Year
Leading by example. Recognises a manager within AM Surveying & Block Management whom has shown exceptional leadership and support to their team including demonstration of AM's brand values; Stewardship, Collaborate, Reliable, Precision and Development.
Unsung Hero
The AM colleague whom provides an often unseen yet essential contribution to our Block Management objectives and does so with exceptional commitment and dedication to their role is the winner of the Unsung Hero award.
Rising Star
One to watch! Our Rising Star award recognises our colleague taking big forward-strides in career and professional development such as working hard to achieve promotion, showing a thirst to learn and successful completion of formal training.
Exceptional Team Member
An individual demonstrating unflinching, without-hesitation support to colleagues by going above and beyond. Always there when a helping hand is needed to pick up the slack and doing what it takes to meet goals and objectives for AM's Block Management clients.
Team of the Year
Block Management cannot succeed without collaborative teams pulling together effectively to achieve a common goal. The top AM team of the year are recipients of this award.
Inspirational Colleague
The only AM award exclusively available via staff nomination on the lead-up to awards night. Based on merit, all of team AM are invited to submit votes for their chosen colleague whom has inspired them the most in the workplace over the past 12 months.
Bigger and Better in 2023
AM Awards is an opportunity for all staff of AM, and plus-1s, to reflect, honour and celebrate successes of the past year. In addition to team AM, for the first time in 2023 a number of selected suppliers from AM's essential Block Management supply chain joined in on celebrations including representatives from suppliers of trades services, lawyers, energy consultants and insurance brokers.
Commenting on success of the evening, AM Owner & Director Matthew Mackintosh expressed: "Our awards evening is always an exciting fixture on our social calendar. Block Management is not an easy industry and everyone within the company works so hard, it's essential to take stock and reflect once in a while. AM Awards is a fantastic platform on which we celebrate not only the success of all of our team, but in particular those whom have gone especially above and beyond. Anthony Allder MIRPM, AssocRICS; Senior Property Manager & Team Leader
Winner of awards: Leader of the Year and Inspirational Colleague.
The Property Management team at AM Surveying & Block Management consists of Property Managers, Property Management Assistants along with colleagues in Health, Safety, Legal & Insurance administration and Anthony is always front and centre. Anthony leads by example and as a result has earned the respect of his team and has landed himself our Leader of the Year award.
Further, Anthony earns the biggest award haul of the evening by also winning himself the team-voted Inspirational Colleague award.
Anthony: "I am delighted to be recognised by AM and my team in this way, it means so much to me. I extend my thanks to the team, I'm proud to lead them. I also extend my thanks to Matthew and AM for leadership and guidance."
Nina Locke; Property Inspector
Award: Unsung Hero.
Conducting site visits, identifying areas of planned and reactive essential maintenance and interacting with residents within AM's Block Management sites, Nina demonstrates exceptional dedication to her role as Property Inspector. Often unseen given the nature of an on-the-road role, Nina is known within the team to be reliable and to deliver key objectives.
Nina: "Thank you AM for this award. It's great to be recognised for the work I do out on site to help the Operations and Property Management team."
Ethan Barraclough AIRPM, MCIH; Property Manager.
Winner of award: Rising Star.
No two days in the life of a Block Management Property Manager are the same. Setting budgets, planning maintenance, resolving reactive maintenance and keeping grasp of a complex and changeable legislative landscape are just some daily duties of a Property Manager.
Ethan has climbed the steep Block Property Manager learning curve leading to a solid foundation for an exciting career in Block Management and in doing so has earned our Rising Star of the year award.
Ethan: "This year I received excellent feedback from clients in my portfolio through online reviews and I am delighted to receive the recognition from that and also especially from this award. I look forward to developing my career further in 2023 and beyond, including obtaining my Membership with the Institute of Residential Property Management."
Alicia Carroll, Receptionist and PA.
Winner of award: Exceptional Team Member:
Every efficient office needs its champion administrator behind the scenes to help make it all happen. Both behind the scenes and front of house Alicia is there working hard giving residents calling or visiting AM the best possible first impression and behind the scenes the team couldn't ask for a better facilitator. Alicia's work is exceptional and covers a wide spectrum of duties, she becomes worthy recipient of our Exceptional Team Member award.
Alicia: "I don't know what to say, thank you everybody for the award, it wasn't expected!".
Building Surveying team; Nick Spalding, Karam Malik and Sai Suresh
Winner of award: Team of the Year
The success of our Building Surveying team at AM Surveying & Block Management speaks to the heritage of AM, with our company originating as a Building Surveying practice more than 40+ years ago. Today our Building Surveying department assist our Property Management team and clients in essential areas of major works, planned maintenance, defect reporting and insurance valuation, to name a few! Our Property Management service would not be the same without our excellent Building Surveyors!

Shout Out to AM's Social Committee
Throughout the year at AM Surveying & Block Management an elite group of party-planning heros set aside time to plan the rollout of successful monthly social events that bolster our teams moral and make AM a bustling place to work; monthly drinks, team lunches and even burning rubber on the GoKart track! But each year they go all out for our annual staff awards party which takes many months of planning.
AM's Social Committee is made up of Paris Mackintosh, Abbie Johnson, Savannah Cox and Alicia Carroll, well done team Social! We work hard and you help us play hard too!
