Freehold Enfranchisement

Guiding residential Leaseholders through their statutory right to collectively enfranchise the Freehold of their Buildings.

Owners of residential flats held on Long Leases can force the purchase of their Freehold from the current Freehold Landlord, as a collective group of Leaseholders, provided at least 50% of Leaseholders within the block participate.

 

There are a number of qualifying requirements which include the following:

 

  • Leases must originally have been granted for a period over 21 years in length.

 

  • No more than 25% of the block is non-residential.

 

  • The premises must be a self contained building or a self contained part of a building.
